Pakistan wicket-keeper batter, Sarfaraz Ahmed, has expressed his support for star all-rounder, Shadab Khan, as a potential captain for the national team in all formats, favoring his adaptability and utility across different cricket formats.

During a YouTube podcast, Sarfaraz was questioned about which player, among Shaheen Afridi, Shadab, and Mohammad Rizwan, possesses the potential to be appointed as the captain of the Pakistan team across all three formats in future.

The 36-year-old emphasized Shadab's all-round abilities and said that he can take on various roles in the team.

The former captain underlined the significance of a versatile player who can excel in different cricketing scenarios, such as overseas or in the longest-format.

"Shadab Khan," Sarfaraz replied without any hesitation.

“The batting order at which he plays, he can adjust in the team, or if you play overseas or play Test cricket, you need to play with five bowlers. Among those five bowlers, your fifth bowler will be your all-rounder, who can bat and bowl both. Whether we talk about one-day cricket or T20 cricket, he [Shadab] can adjust himself in all three formats," he further added.

In March this year, Shadab was appointed the captain of the Pakistan side for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Unfortunately, the Men in Green experienced a historic defeat, losing the series 2-1 against Afghanistan under his leadership.
