Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed praised legendary cricketers Chris Gayle and Dale Steyn while claiming that the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) will face the true Gayle storm in the upcoming season.

The 33-year-old claimed that the Quetta Gladiators’ side would receive a massive boost because of the inclusion of these world class players.

“Both (Gayle and Steyn) are world class players and have made a name for themselves all around the world. They have performed great in all the leagues they have played in. The team will get a massive boost with them in the side. I think the real Chris Gayle has not been seen in the PSL so far, and I am sure the Chris Gayle storm will come for the Quetta Gladiators,” Sarfaraz said.

“Chris Gayle is part of our side. Dale Steyn and Delport are also there. We have good domestic performers such as Saim Ayub. We have a lot of good players. Usman Shinwari is also in our side. I am very hopeful that the team will perform well this time around,” he added.

The former Pakistan captain stressed that the Quetta Gladiators team did not want to repeat past mistakes while stating that they would miss the services of former all-rounder Shane Watson.

“We obviously didn’t have a good run last year. I would not want to remember that or repeat it again. We will try to come out on the ground with good preparations this season and make a good combination right from the first match,” he said.

“Shane Watson was with us for three years. He was a very important player for our side. We will feel his absence. He has really helped the team over time. We will miss him. I am hopeful that Jason Roy and Shane Watson will pray for our side’s success,” he added.

Sarfaraz did not reveal his position in the team’s batting unit stating that a decision would be made according to the combination of the side.

“The team always comes first. I will see what we decide as far as the team combination and batting line-up is concerned. I have already thought about where I need to bat. We will discuss what our best option is as far as the batting order is concerned and then we will finalise accordingly. I will try to help my team win with my own performances,” he concluded.
