Test batter Saud Shakeel has shared insights into the adjustments he has made to align with the demands of T20 cricket.

Saud, who is opening the batting for Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, has played five innings and has scored 164 runs at a strike rate of 150.45.

While reflecting on his individual performances, Saud acknowledged the significance of his new role as an opener.

"I used to enjoy hitting shots on the ground, but I've adapted my game for T20 cricket," Saud told a local TV channel.

"It has been a good start. My individual performances have been impressive, and a new role as an opener has been assigned. Played first-class cricket at number three, but now I represent Pakistan at number five.

"Initially thought of playing at number three, but now, I play at number five with a mindset to embrace the challenge whenever an opportunity arises," he added.

Saud, who is the vice-captain of Gladiators, expressed pride in the role and affirmed his willingness to accept the responsibility of leading the team if the opportunity presents itself in the future.

"Being a captain is a challenge and it's an opportunity to learn. Handling the pressure of being a captain falls on the player himself and I have always enjoyed captaincy. When I became the captain of the U19 team, I maintained a good atmosphere in the dressing room and had good camaraderie.

"Becoming a captain is a matter of pride. It's not that I always wanted to become a captain, but if the opportunity arises, I will definitely accept it," he added.
