Saud Shakeel lauded Amin's vast experience, describing him as a valuable asset for young talents who can learn a great deal from his expertise
Pakistan Shaheens skipper Saud Shakeel has reflected on his team's impressive batting display during the second day of the ongoing first four-day match against Bangladesh A.
In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shakeel praised the middle-order batter Umar Amin for his outstanding innings of 177 runs, which has put the Shaheens in a commanding position.
He also commended young batters Mohammad Huraira, Saad Khan, and Kamran Ghulam for their valuable contributions with the bat.
"It was an excellent day overall for us as a batting group. First and foremost, a lot of credit goes to Umar Amin for playing a long innings in this heat, with such command and the strokes we saw from him were outstanding," Saud said.
"Additionally, many batters contributed throughout the day. Huraira played very well at the start, and in the end, Saad Khan and Kamran Ghulam finished well and are still not out, so overall it was a very satisfying day for me as a captain," he added.
Shakeel elaborated on his strategy during his own innings, explaining that he was preparing for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh by experimenting with risky shots.
"My innings was quite simple, I wanted to apply the things in this match that I need to implement in the upcoming matches. I decided to try them out on the ground. I was taking limited risks, focusing on the shots that might be needed later, and I planned today's innings with all that in mind. Unfortunately, I couldn't convert it into a century, but overall, I really enjoyed batting today," he said.
Umar Amin has featured in 175 First-Class matches, amassing 11,545 runs, including 56 fifties and 31 centuries, with a career-best innings of 281 runs at an average of 41.37.
Shaheens skipper lauded Amin's vast experience, describing him as a valuable asset for young talents who can learn a great deal from his expertise.
"Umar Amin is a very experienced player, and having him in the dressing room is quite helpful for the youngsters because he is a great person off the field as well and often guides the young players. Overall, he's having a good time, and what was special about his innings today was that his strokes were visible all around the ground, and he batted with great command. It was really enjoyable, and I also enjoyed batting with him," he concluded.
Pakistan Shaheens ended Day 2 at 367/4 in 90 overs, leading by 245 runs after Bangladesh 'A' was bowled out for 122.
Umar Amin's standout knock of 177, with 23 boundaries and three sixes, anchored the innings. He was well-supported by Saud Shakeel, who scored 76, forming a 195-run partnership.
Saad Khan (31*) and Kamran Ghulam (20*) guided the team to a strong position ahead of Day 3.
