This will be the second edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, following a successful debut in South Africa in 2023
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the match schedule for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, set to be held in Malaysia. The tournament will feature 16 teams from across the globe, competing in 41 matches over a span of 15 days, from January 18 to February 2, 2025. Before the main event, 16 warm-up matches will take place between January 13 and 16.
This will be the second edition of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, following a successful debut in South Africa in 2023, where India clinched the title by defeating England in the final. The 2025 tournament will be particularly special for hosts Malaysia, as it marks their first appearance in the competition, along with Samoa’s debut in an ICC World Cup event.
The tournament kicks off on January 18 with a series of triple headers. Group B will see England face Ireland and Pakistan play against the USA in Johor, while in Group C, Samoa will compete against Africa’s Qualifier, and New Zealand will take on South Africa in Sarawak. Group D’s fixtures will feature Australia versus Scotland and Bangladesh against Asia’s Qualifier in Selangor.
Reigning champions India will start their campaign on January 19 against the West Indies, with hosts Malaysia playing Sri Lanka earlier in the day at Bayuemas Oval.
The tournament format includes a Group stage followed by the Super Six stage, beginning on January 25. In the Super Six, two groups of six teams will battle it out to determine the semi-finalists and, ultimately, the finalists. If India advances to the semi-finals, they are scheduled to play Semi-Final 2 on January 31 at 14:30 local time.
