Pakistan pacer, Hasan Ali, believes that his Islamabad United captain, Shadab Khan, is ready for Pakistan captaincy.

Upon being asked by media whether Shadab can lead the national side, the pacer said that Shadab is always ready to take up any challenge.

“He is ready [for Pakistan captaincy]. He has proved himself as a captain in PSL. I think he has also lead Pakistan in two matches, so I think he is ready. If he is given the responsibility, he will avail it. He is always ready for any challenge and gives his best,” said Hasan.

Current Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, has been facing criticism regarding his captaincy after he failed to win single Test at home against England and New Zealand.

The Kiwis also beat Pakistan in the recently concluded ODI series, which further added pressure on Babar.

There is speculation in the media that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may consider splitting the leadership role and potentially replacing Azam as captain in one of the formats.

Shadab is the vice-captain of Pakistan in limited overs format. However, he missed the recent ODI series against New Zealand due to injury, after which Shan Masood was announced as the vice-captain for that series.

Azam will lead the Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL), which takes place in Pakistan from February 13 to March 19.
