Pakistan pacer, Shaheen Afridi, has made some blunt remarks regarding his fitness as well as media and fans’ fixation with the highly anticipated World Cup clash against India.

India-Pakistan match at the 2023 World Cup is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

While acknowledging the excitement surrounding the India-Pakistan match, Afridi believes that the focus should not solely be on this one game. Instead, he emphasizes the need for the team to concentrate on winning the World Cup as a whole.

In an interview with a local TV channel, Afridi stated, "We should stop thinking and concentrating on just India versus Pakistan match because that’s just one game. We need to focus our thoughts on how to win the World Cup, and as a team, this will be our aim."

Regarding his fitness, Afridi addressed concerns stemming from his past knee injury. He last played a Test match for Pakistan almost a year ago against Sri Lanka when he sustained the injury that forced him out of action for a significant period of time.

However, Afridi rebuked concerns regarding his match fitness and confidently asserted, "I am fully fit; that's why I'm back in the Test team. If I hadn't been fully match fit, my name wouldn't have been in the squad. I will be playing for Pakistan's national team, not for a club level team."
