The ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has been a challenging journey for the Pakistan cricket team, marked by early setbacks against the USA and India.

In a recent interview with a local sports platform, Pakistan's left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi expressed disappointment at the lack of unwavering support from some fans during the team's trying times.

He also emphasized the importance of consistent backing, especially when facing difficulties.

"Everyone supports you in good times, but I've always said that fans must support us in tough times. We are not a gully cricket team. This is your Pakistan team as well. If you can't support us during these times, you're just like the media," Shaheen said.

Reflecting on the fluctuating perceptions in cricket, Afridi shared insights into the challenges faced by players during highs and lows.

'I've always been a bowler who bowled 136-140 kph at the start, and I'm still doing so. When a bowler picks up wickets, everyone speaks well, but when he doesn't, all the negative things are said," he concluded.

It is worth noting that the Men in Green suffered defeats in their initial two ongoing tournament matches, against co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India. Nonetheless, they secured a victory against Canada in their subsequent match. Their upcoming final group fixture is against Ireland on June 16 in Florida.
