Welsh Fire had retained him in the £100,000 category
Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is opting out of this year's edition of the Hundred, reported The Telegraph.
Welsh Fire had retained him in the £100,000 category after his performance in 2023, where he featured in six matches. However, it's now believed that he's in talks with the Global T20 Canada league for a potential signing.
This competition overlaps with the Hundred but is of shorter duration, allowing Shaheen more time with his family if he decides to join.
Although he's withdrawing from the Hundred, it's not confirmed whether he has officially committed to the Global T20 Canada league yet.
Welsh Fire is expected to announce a replacement pace bowler soon. The Hundred is scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 18 this year.
