Bangladesh registered their first-ever Test victory against Pakistan in Rawalpindi
Pakistan cricket team suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The loss has sparked a wave of criticism from former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi and Test cricketer Fawad Alam, who have expressed their disappointment and concern regarding the team's performance and management decisions.
Legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi took to social media platform 'X' to voice his frustration with the team's management and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
He questioned the pitch preparation and the selection choices, particularly the decision to play four fast bowlers while excluding a specialist spinner.
"A 10-wicket defeat raises serious questions about the decision to prepare this type of pitch, select four fast bowlers, and leave out a specialist spinner. This, to me, clearly shows a lack of awareness about home conditions. That said, you cannot take the credit away from Bangladesh for the brand of cricket they played throughout the Test," Afridi posted.
Pakistan Test cricketer, Fawad Alam, echoed Afridi's sentiments, labeling the defeat as "unacceptable" and questioning the direction in which Pakistan cricket is heading.
He too praised Bangladesh for their deserved victory.
"Unacceptable! Is Pakistan cricket going forward or backwards, is this what we call progression? Congratulations Bangladesh, well deserved," Fawad posted.
