Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, shared details of his recent chat with skipper Babar Azam ahead of the all-important 2023 World Cup match against arch-rivals India on Saturday, October 14th, in Ahmedabad.

In a recent interview with a local media channel, Afridi revealed that he had a meaningful conversation with Azam following a recent victory by the team.

“I spoke to Babar Azam last night and congratulated him about the win,” he said.

“I told him to be confident since he is a big match player. I backed him to score big in coming matches," he added.

The former all-rounder acknowledged Babar's recent setback in a match, but maintained a positive outlook on his potential.

"When Babar replied to my message, he also seemed positive and eager to do well," he said.

"He was unlucky in the last match, but I’m sure he will score a hundred in the big matches," he concluded.

It is worth noting that the Men in Green emerged victorious in their initial two matches of the 2023 World Cup against Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
