Pakistan legendary former all-rounder Shahid Afridi, while talking at an event in Lahore on Wednesday, spoke against the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to postpone the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.
The PCB had made the decision after a rise in coronavirus cases among players and support staff raised question marks over the efficiency of the bio-secure bubble which had been deployed to prevent the spread of the disease.
The star all-rounder believed that the PCB had no plans to tackle such a scenario which was a sad development.
“No plan seemed clear regarding the PSL from the PCB. It was wrong to postpone the tournament because of the coronavirus positive cases. They should have isolated the individuals who tested positive and continued the tournament. No planning was done beforehand by the PCB which is really saddening,” Afridi said.

The PSL 6 was postponed on March 4, due to multiple Covid-19 cases among players and support staff, with 20 matches remaining. The PCB has already announced that Karachi will host the remainder of matches in the month of June, with the final on the 20th of the same month.
However, there was also a suggestion about holding the matches towards the end of May despite the clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL). Now, the franchises are ready to hold the matches during the May window as well.
The final decision regarding the schedule will be made after taking into account the bio-secure bubble, availability of foreign players and the hotel.
