Afridi discussed the issue of frequent changes in leadership in Pakistan cricket
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has expressed that he was not in favor of Shaheen Afridi being appointed as the captain of the national team. He stated that after Babar Azam, the best choice for the role would have been Mohammad Rizwan. Afridi further mentioned that it was wrong to remove Shaheen from the position after just one series, adding that the young player should have been given more time.
Speaking at an Urdu conference session held at the Arts Council in Karachi, Afridi discussed the issue of frequent changes in leadership in Pakistan cricket, emphasizing that the problem arises when everything changes with the appointment of a new chairman.
Afridi also touched on the current state of social media, criticizing how people freely express their opinions without considering the impact of their words. He urged the younger generation to move away from the world of TikTok and immerse themselves in the real world. "You can criticize, but choose your words carefully," he said, stressing the importance of training and guidance for youth.
Regarding Shaheen Afridi, Afridi acknowledged that everyone had praised the young fast bowler’s abilities but added a light-hearted note, saying that he wouldn't consider himself a grandfather until his fifth daughter's wedding. He then spoke about Pakistan’s abundant cricket talent, but expressed concern that it often gets wasted. He also advocated for the continuation of cement wickets in Karachi, which he believes helped develop strong batsmen.
