West Indies captain Shai Hope expressed his satisfaction after their commanding seven-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the second ODI in Basseterre. The win secured the three-match series 2-0, marking a milestone in West Indies resurgence in ODI cricket.
Speaking in the post-match presentation, Hope credited the bowlers for setting the tone early by taking crucial wickets in the powerplay. "Very pleased. You understand the importance of wickets in the powerplay, and the bowlers delivered what was asked of them," Hope remarked.
He also emphasized the team’s consistent improvement through careful analysis of their performances. "We always analyze our game, whether we win or lose, and it is nice to see us ticking boxes and keeping improving," he added.
West Indies secured a seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second ODI at Basseterre, clinching the three-match series 2-0. Jayden Seales was the star with the ball, recording career-best figures of 4 for 22 to help bowl out Bangladesh for 227 in 45.5 overs. This win marked West Indies' first ODI series triumph over Bangladesh in a decade.'
Hope praised debutant Marquino Mindley, who picked up his first ODI wicket, for his impactful performance. "He had a great outing today. He has been bowling well in domestic cricket for a long time now, and he did well," he added.
With the series already in the bag, Hope underscored the importance of maintaining focus for the final game, which could bolster their World Cup qualification hopes. "Every game is important, and it is critical in terms of getting those points which will help us qualify for the next World Cup" he further added.
