Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan etched his name in cricketing history in the Super 8 match against India at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday.
Shakib became the first bowler to reach the milestone of 50 wickets in T20 World Cup history. He secured this remarkable feat by dismissing Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the fourth over of India's innings.
Most wickets in T20 World Cup:
- Shakib Al Hasan: 50 wickets
- Shahid Afridi: 39 wickets
- Lasith Malinga: 38 wickets
- Wanindu Hasaranga: 37 wickets
- Saeed Ajmal: 36 wickets
Shakib’s achievement not only places him at the pinnacle of T20 World Cup bowling but also highlights his prowess in the shortest format of the game. In T20 Internationals (T20Is), he stands as the second-highest wicket-taker globally, with 148 wickets from 128 matches, trailing only New Zealand’s Tim Southee, who has 164 wickets.
