Shakib Al Hasan has failed a second independent test of his bowling action, conducted at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Chennai. As a result, his suspension from bowling in top-level domestic and international cricket remains in place.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the news, stating, "A successful reassessment is required for the bowling suspension to be lifted. Consequently, the player's existing suspension from bowling in international cricket following the initial independent assessment at the testing centre of Loughborough University in the UK also remains in place."

Shakib remains eligible to play as a batsman in all forms of cricket but cannot contribute as a bowler.

The initial issue with Shakib's bowling action arose during an English county match in September 2024, leading to his first suspension. According to ICC regulations, the suspension was automatically enforced worldwide. Despite hopes of clearing his action in subsequent tests, Shakib has not been successful.

Shakib has not played international cricket since the two-Test series against India in September-October 2024. Political unrest in Bangladesh prevented his return after the tour, as the country faced significant student-led protests that led to the fall of the Awami League government, of which Shakib was a member of parliament.
