In a historic moment for West Indies cricket, the Caribbean side defeated Pakistan in the second Test in Multan, leveling the series 1-1. The 120-run victory marked West Indies' first-ever Test win on Pakistani soil since 1990, a remarkable achievement considering that only Shan Masood and Noman Ali from the current Pakistan squad were born the last time the Caribbean side triumphed in Faisalabad under the leadership of the legendary Desmond Haynes.

The win was vital for West Indies as it pushed them above Pakistan in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, with a percentage of 28.21 compared to Pakistan's 27.98. The visitors showed resilience throughout the match, with Jomel Warrican’s brilliant five-wicket haul in the fourth innings leading the charge and securing their historic win.

The game was tightly contested. At the end of the first innings, West Indies had a slim lead of just 9 runs, thanks to Noman Ali’s excellent figures of 6/41. However, it was West Indies’ captain Kraigg Brathwaite who provided stability in their second innings with a vital knock of 52 off 74 balls, guiding his team to a total of 244 and setting Pakistan a target of 254 runs by tea on Day 2.

Pakistan’s chase started poorly, losing both openers within the first three overs. Despite a steady 31 from Babar Azam, Pakistan ended Day 2 at 76/4, with Babar falling just before the close of play.

On Day 3, it was Warrican who turned the match in West Indies' favor, taking 5/27 and tearing through Pakistan’s batting order. He dismissed Kashif Ali and Mohammad Rizwan with stunning deliveries, leaving Pakistan’s lower order with little chance of resisting. The innings folded soon after, and Pakistan was dismissed for just 133 runs.

Warrican’s brilliant performance earned him both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards, having taken nine wickets in the match and playing a key role in West Indies' remarkable victory, ending their 34-year wait for a Test win in Pakistan.
