Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube has credited captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid for their pivotal support during his challenging stint at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and Caribbean.

Despite facing batting struggles throughout the tournament, where he scored only 13 runs in eight matches, Dube's determination and the team management's confidence in him paid off in the crucial final against South Africa on June 29. In a tense moment with India at 103/4 after 13.3 overs, Dube partnered with Virat Kohli to build a crucial 57-run partnership for the fifth wicket. His rapid 27 off 16 balls stabilized the innings, contributing significantly to India's title-clinching victory.

Reflecting on his journey, Dube expressed gratitude for the learning experience the World Cup provided.

"The World Cup journey taught me a lot. The final was a crucial moment, and I am glad I could contribute to the team's efforts. Every match in the T20 World Cup was a learning experience, and the support from my teammates and fans kept me motivated. In the end, it's about giving your best for the team and making every opportunity count," Dube said as quoted by NDTV Sports.

He highlighted the role played by Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid in boosting his morale throughout the tournament.

"It was both challenging and motivating. It was a test of my mental strength and perseverance. The unwavering support from our captain and coach was incredible. They constantly backed me, encouraging me to stay positive and keep working hard," he further added.

Dube believes that their faith in him was instrumental in overcoming his challenges and delivering under pressure.

"Their faith in my abilities and their guidance helped me stay focused and believe in myself. This experience has made me stronger and more determined to improve and contribute to the team's success in the future," he concluded.

Following the T20 World Cup, Dube continued his form in the T20I series against Zimbabwe, where he was awarded the Player of the Match for his quickfire 12-ball 26 in the series' final game. His performances underline his growing confidence and role in India's T20 setup moving forward.
