Karachi Kings veteran batsman, Shoaib Malik, cited the example of Indian movie star, Shah Rukh Khan, and Serbian tennis player, Novak Djokovic, while emphasizing the importance of experience in every field.

Malik scored a vital 52-run knock off just 34 deliveries against Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday, with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.

In the post-match press conference, Express News journalist referred to Malik as ‘old is gold’ after his performance against Zalmi, to which Malik replied, "Shahrukh Khan did a movie recently, he was also looking like ‘old is gold’."

"We should not put too much emphasis on age. If Novak Djokovic can win a grand slam at the age of 36, then we should see whether a person can compete with a youngster or not. We should also see if we don’t have to hide a senior player in the field or he doesn’t disturb dressing room’s environment," he said.

"Rules should be the same for everyone. There should not be different rules for aged players," he added.

Imad Wasim and Malik anchored their run chase against Zalmi with a gritty 131-run partnership for the fifth wicket. However, their effort went in vain as Zalmi registered a close two-run win over Kings.
