Shoaib Malik, while speaking at an event last week, emphasized the need for clarity regarding his potential inclusion in the national squad
Pakistan's seasoned all-rounder, Shoaib Malik, is gearing up for a comeback to the domestic cricket scene by representing the Sialkot Region in the upcoming National T20 Cup, scheduled to commence on November 24.
According to a media report, the 41-year-old cricketer harbors aspirations of making a return to the Pakistan national cricket team for the 2024 World Cup. To achieve this goal, he aims to focus on showcasing his skills in the domestic circuit.
The report further added that the experienced cricketer plans to lead the Sialkot Region in the forthcoming T20 competition. Malik, who has previously tasted success with the Sialkot Stallions in numerous National T20 Cups, brings leadership and winning experience to the team. Furthermore, he is slated to participate in a practice match leading up to the domestic T20 Cup.
However, while speaking to media in a local event last week, Malik emphasized the need for clarity regarding his potential inclusion in the national squad.
"If I will be given clarity and will be asked to play, then I will definitely consider," Malik asserted, indicating that a clear communication from the cricket authorities would be a deciding factor in his return.
The all-rounder clarified that his motivation to continue playing is not solely centered around the 2024 World Cup.
"It isn't like I am playing cricket because I want to play in the 2024 World Cup. I am playing cricket because I enjoy playing cricket and I can play cricket,” he concluded.
