Bangladesh have unveiled their 16-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against India, scheduled to commence later this month. Najmul Shanto will captain the Tigers, riding high on the momentum from their historic 2-0 series victory in Pakistan.
The first Test will be held in Chennai, starting September 19, with the second match set for September 27 in Kanpur. The series marks the beginning of India’s home season, and the hosts have named a strong squad led by senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
India currently lead the World Test Championship 2023-25 standings, while Bangladesh have climbed to fourth place following their impressive performance in Pakistan.
In terms of squad changes, Bangladesh have made one adjustment: Jaker Ali replaces the injured pacer Shoriful Islam. The Tigers are buoyed by their historic win, which saw them secure their first-ever Test series victory in Pakistan with a comprehensive 2-0 triumph in Rawalpindi last month.
India’s previous encounter with Bangladesh was during the 2019-20 season, where the hosts secured a 2-0 series win. The forthcoming Test series will also be followed by a trio of T20 Internationals to be played in Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
