The 30-year-old is working on rectifying the flaws in his batting
Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman believes that his high-risk approach is the reason behind his inconsistent performances over the course of his career.
While speaking on Lahore Qalandars' YouTube channel, Fakhar said that he is working on rectifying the flaws in his batting and improving his overall game.
“Show me one player in Pakistan team except for Babar Azam, who regularly scores in every game,” said Fakhar. “I play T20s which is already a high-risk game. As an opener, you expect me to play at a higher strike rate, so I try to play my shots and when you play too many shots, you can get out. However, I am trying my best to correct the flaws in my batting, so I can counter the plans that other teams have prepared for me.”

The 30-year-old also admitted that he struggled against spinners in the fifth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“If you look at this season of PSL, I got dismissed by a spinner around six to seven times,” he said. “I try to attack the spinners from the first ball, so there is always a risk of making a mistake while doing that. Next time, I will try not to lose my wicket to a spinner.”
The left-hand opener was full of praise for his Lahore Qalandars’ teammate Dilbar Hussain and believes the pacer has a promising career ahead of him.
“When we were training before PSL 5, Dilbar was causing a lot of problems to batsmen in the nets. I told Dilbar that don’t take pressure and bowl the same way in the match like you did in the nets. I have faced very few bowlers like you,” he said. “Even the opposition teams rated Dilbar very highly but he still needs to work on his fitness.”
