Babar Azam, who had been at the top, has now dropped to second place
India’s Shubman Gill has surpassed Pakistan’s Babar Azam to claim the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings just ahead of Champions Trophy. The 25-year-old achieved this feat after his impressive century against England in Ahmedabad, which helped him regain the position he first held during the 2023 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Babar Azam, who had been at the top, has now dropped to second place, while India’s Rohit Sharma remains in third position.
Several other players have seen improvements in their rankings. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has moved up to fifth, Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka is now ranked eighth, and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan has climbed to 15th. Pakistan’s Salman Agha made the biggest jump, moving up 24 spots to No. 48.
In the bowling rankings, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana has risen to the No. 1 spot, overtaking Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Theekshana’s stellar performances against Australia helped him achieve this ranking, even though Sri Lanka will not be participating in the upcoming Champions Trophy. Rashid Khan has dropped to second place, while India’s Kuldeep Yadav has moved up to fourth.
In the all-rounder rankings, Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi continues to hold the top spot, and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner has gained one place, moving to No. 6.
With the 2025 Champions Trophy just started, these updated rankings add extra excitement as some of the world’s best players are set to showcase their skills on the global stage.
