Former New Zealand cricketer turned commentator, Simon Doull, on Thursday, reacted to a troll who abused him on Instagram for criticising Babar Azam, during his commentary stint in the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.

The commentator posted a picture of the abusive language used by the troll and said that getting verbally abused for simply giving opinions is not appropriate.

“So sorry to have upset you Feroz. It’s just an opinion and I get paid for it. It’s ok if you don’t agree but this language is never ok. And my mother has also passed,” Doull commented on Instagram.

During commentary in the aforementioned match on Wednesday, Doull criticized Babar for putting his personal milestone above the team's goal. He stated that Babar should have prioritized the team and focused on looking for boundaries instead of slowing down the run-rate.

Babar was on 80 off 44 at one point but took 16 more deliveries to get to his maiden PSL century, completing it by hitting a boundary.

“Rather than putting the team first... the last little while, that's all that been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still, so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first,” Doull said during his commentary stint.

Babar went onto score 115 runs off 65 balls, which helped his team reach a mammoth total of 240/2.

Zalmi ended up losing the match, courtesy of a record-breaking inning of 145 runs by Jason Roy, which is the highest individual score in PSL history.
