Pakistan's Test team captain, Shan Masood, expressed his admiration and confidence in star batsman Babar Azam, envisioning a pivotal role for Azam in leading the national team to new heights.

Masood highlighted Azam's substantial experience, emphasizing his captaincy tenure of four years, during which he significantly influenced the team's direction and performance. 

"Babar has a vast experience since he has captained the side for four years and even when he isn't the captain, he still is the leader of the team," Masood said.

Recognizing Azam's continued leadership role within the team, Masood underlined the batsman's consistent contributions towards propelling the team's progress. 

"He had a major contribution in taking this team forward. I think he will take this team forward from now onwards," Masood asserted confidently.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Masood as the Test captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team on Wednesday. He has been appointed captain till the end of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. Masood's first assignment as captain will be a three-match Test series against Australia in Australia starting from 14 December.
