Middle-order batsman Sohaib Maqsood is keen to improve his fitness in the ongoing camp at the National High Performance Centre (HPC) in Lahore.

The men’s national selection committee invited Azam Khan and Maqsood at the National HPC in Lahore as the selectors continue to reward the top domestic performers and expand the pool of players. The aforementioned pair is currently working with the world-renowned NHPC coaches.

“We will have training sessions for one or two weeks after which we will work on our cricketing skills as well. Once your fitness improves, your performance will also become better,” said Maqsood.

“PCB trainers have done our medical and fielding assessments till now. We also took a 2 km test and they noted our timings. Now I will work on my fitness for two weeks, after which another test will be taken to check the improvement. My goal is to rectify my weaknesses in this four-week camp,” he added.

Emerging pacer, Mohammad Imran, was also among the seven players invited in the Pakistan’s in the pre-departure camp, which commenced at the Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

“I really enjoyed today’s training session and our senior players like Babar [Azam] and bowling coach Waqar Younis motivated us a lot,” Imran said.
