Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Sohail Tanvir, in an interview with Cricket Pakistan, revealed that he was eager to play in the upcoming Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

The 36-year-old, who will be playing for the Muzaffarabad Tigers, believed that the league will be a great opportunity for local players to showcase their talents to the world.

“I think especially the players from Kashmir, the local players, it [Kashmir Premier League] is great for them. They will get a big platform and an opportunity to showcase their talent. You can see that there are many examples if you see the PSL. It provided a lot of products for Pakistan cricket. If you see cricket around the world, wherever there is league cricket the local talent comes out because they get that major platform that showcases them to the world. It is a good sign,” Tanvir said.

“Kashmir is really close to Islamabad. I have seen a lot of players coming from there and playing here in Pindi or Islamabad. I know that there is a lot of talent there. I hope they will grab this opportunity. This will open a lot of windows for them. The youngsters will get many opportunities if they showcase their talent over here. I am really happy for the people of Kashmir because they will get to witness healthy sporting activities,” he said.

The pacer also believed that Muzaffarabad could turn into an important venue for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the future.

“It [Kashmir] is such a great venue. I have heard a lot about the stadium in Muzaffarabad but haven't seen it myself yet. It could be a great stadium for the Pakistan Cricket Board going into the future, especially for this time of the year when the rest of the areas have really hot weather conditions. Obviously, you can't start with international matches, but they could hold a Pakistan camp there and build on that. In every aspect, it is a very good sign. We will get new cricketers and will explore a new venue. Kasmir is a beautiful place. I am sure everyone who goes to Muzaffarabad will love it,” he concluded.
