According to Ganguly, an India versus Pakistan semifinal would be a treat for cricket fans
Former cricket captain, Sourav Ganguly, revealed his picks for the semi-finalists of the highly anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 scheduled in India.
Ganguly expressed his belief that Australia, England, and India are the frontrunners to secure a spot in the semifinals. However, he also emphasized that underestimating New Zealand in crucial matches would be a mistake.
The 51-year-old's predictions did not end there. He expressed his hope that Pakistan, a team with a storied rivalry against India, would also make it to the semi-final round.
According to him, an India versus Pakistan semifinal would be a treat for cricket fans, especially if it were to take place at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium.
“It’s very hard to say. Australia, England, India. You can never underestimate New Zealand in these big matches. I will pick five, and include Pakistan also. Pakistan better qualify so that we will have the India-Pakistan semi-final at the Eden Gardens,” he said.
The fixtures list for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India has been released along with the 10 venues for the mega event that will span across 46 days later this year.
The much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for Sunday October 15 in Ahmedabad. Their last encounter in the 2019 World Cup was a high-scoring affair with India achieving a huge victory in Manchester.
