South Africa has announced a strong squad for the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, marking their final preparation opportunity ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. While a tri-series in February will follow, scheduling close to the SA20 league’s conclusion limits the availability of top players for those matches.

Key players Kagiso Rabada, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi make their ODI returns, joined by uncapped 18-year-old pacer Kwena Maphaka. Maphaka, known for his pace, was the leading wicket-taker at the U19 World Cup and has impressed in the ongoing T20I series against Pakistan. Injuries ruled out Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, and other regular pacers.

Temba Bavuma resumes captaincy duties and is expected to open alongside Ryan Rickelton. The batting order includes experienced names like Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, Klaasen, and Miller, forming a robust lineup. The bowling attack is strengthened by Rabada, Marco Jansen, Maharaj, and Shamsi, with Andile Phehlukwayo providing all-round support.
