The Pakistan Super League (PSL) announced on Monday that South Africa’s prominent top-order batter, Rassie van der Dussen, has registered for the player draft for the league’s 10th edition.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) announced on Monday that South Africa’s prominent top-order batter, Rassie van der Dussen, has registered for the player draft for the league’s 10th edition.  

The announcement was made via the league's social media platforms, accompanied by a compilation video showcasing the right-hander’s finest shots.  

“South African right-hand batter Rassie van der Dussen makes his way back to the HBL PSL Draft,” the PSL statement read.  

The 35-year-old batter is a key member of South Africa's white-ball teams and has represented the Proteas in 18 Tests, 68 ODIs, and 50 T20Is. Across all formats, he has scored 4,626 runs, including six centuries and 29 half-centuries.  

Van der Dussen brings extensive experience in T20 cricket, having played 211 matches in the format. He has amassed 6,075 runs at an impressive strike rate of 131.86, with five centuries and 39 half-centuries to his name.  

He has previously featured in the PSL, representing Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars in the 2023 and 2024 editions, respectively. In 13 PSL innings, he has scored 512 runs at an average of 46.54 and a strike rate of 145.86, including one century and three fifties.  

Notably, van der Dussen is the third South African and the 20th overall foreign player to register for the PSL 10 draft. This draft will be held in Gwadar, Balochistan, on January 11, 2025, marking the first time the PSL draft takes place in the region.  

Other registered players include Matthew Short, Gudakesh Motie, Alex Hales, Luke Wood, Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Usman Khawaja, Corbin Bosch, Rilee Rossouw, Colin Munro, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Tom Curran, David Willey, Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Sikandar Raza.
