In his place, uncapped fast bowler Migael Pretorius has been named as Coetzee's replacement
South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies due to injury.
The 23-year-old suffered a low-grade side strain on his left side while playing for the Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket tournament earlier this month. After returning home and undergoing further assessments, the Proteas medical team declared him unfit for the tour.
In his place, uncapped fast bowler Migael Pretorius has been named as Coetzee's replacement. The 29-year-old Pretorius was previously called up to the Test side in 2020 against Sri Lanka but did not play. He is currently in good form, having taken 23 wickets in eight games in the ongoing County Championship Division in England.
The first Test between South Africa and the West Indies will be held at the Port of Spain in Trinidad starting on August 7, followed by the second Test in Guyana beginning on August 15.
