The first Test is scheduled to start on August 21 at Old Trafford
The Sri Lankan selection committee has announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against England.
Dhananjaya De Silva will continue to lead the Test side, with Kusal Mendis serving as the vice-captain. The squad sees the recall of Pathum Nissanka, who has been impressive in white-ball cricket.
The team boasts a good mix of youth and experience, featuring seasoned batters like Dimuth Karunaratne, Angelo Mathews, and Dinesh Chandimal.
Young talents Nishan Madushka and Sadeera Samarawickrama have also been included. The spin-bowling all-rounder spots are filled by Kamindu Mendis and Ramesh Mendis.
In the bowling department, uncapped yet domestically experienced Nisala Tharaka has been added to the squad. Experienced pacers Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha are expected to lead the attack, with Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando also likely to play key roles in the English conditions.
The spin duo of Prabath Jayasuriya and Jeffrey Vandersay will be crucial for the team.
The first Test is scheduled to start on August 21 at Old Trafford, followed by matches at Lord's and the Kia Oval.
