Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out due to bronchitis and a respiratory infection
Sri Lanka had announced their 16-member squad for the T20I series against India, scheduled to begin on July 27 in Pallekele.
Initially included in the squad, Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out due to bronchitis and a respiratory infection.
Asitha Fernando, a right-arm pace bowler who has regularly featured in the Sri Lankan Test team but has only three T20I matches to his name since 2022, has been named as Chameera's replacement.
Upul Tharanga, Sri Lanka's Chief Selector, confirmed the news during a briefing on Wednesday, stating, "Only yesterday did we get back the reports, and it can be confirmed that he will miss the T20Is and ODIs against India."
Additionally, Charith Asalanka will lead the team as the new captain following Wanindu Hasaranga's resignation after the T20 World Cup.
