Sri Lanka's preparations for the T20I series against India have encountered a significant hurdle with the injury of right-arm pacer Nuwan Thushara. The three-match series is set to begin on Saturday, July 27, at Pallekele.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Board confirmed that Thushara sustained a broken finger on his non-bowling hand during a Wednesday evening training session under lights.
Despite the injury not affecting his bowling arm, it is severe enough to rule him out of the series. Thushara's absence is a notable setback due to his consistent performances in Sri Lanka's T20I lineup this year.
In response to Thushara’s injury, Dilshan Madushanka has been added to the squad. Thushara’s recent form has been impressive, especially in the T20 World Cup 2024, where he took eight wickets in three matches, including a remarkable four-wicket haul against Bangladesh.
