The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a one-year ban on Sri Lankan cricketer Praveen Jayawickrama for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

Jayawickrama admitted to obstructing or delaying an Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) investigation, leading to his suspension.

The violation falls under Article 2.4.7 of the ICC Code, which prohibits the concealment, tampering with, or destruction of documentation or other relevant information during an ACU investigation.

This breach can obstruct the discovery of evidence related to corrupt conduct in international cricket and domestic leagues such as the Lanka Premier League.

Following his admission, Jayawickrama accepted a one-year period of ineligibility, with the final six months of the sanction suspended.

The ICC acted in collaboration with Sri Lanka Cricket under Articles 1.7.4.1 and 1.8.1 of the Code, emphasizing its commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport.
