Stirling expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance, describing it as a "perfect day"
Ireland's captain, Paul Stirling, took a swipe at Pakistan's pitch conditions, labeling them as the "flattest pitches in the world" after Ireland's victory over Pakistan in the first T20I on Friday.
Stirling expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance, describing it as a "perfect day." He revealed their strategy of inviting Pakistan to bat first, confident in their ability to chase down the target.
“We are absolutely delighted. We wanted to start the summer off well and it was almost a perfect day for us. When you come here, especially from Pakistan, the flattest pitches in the world, ask them to bat first and see what they can get. We were happy to chase 180,” Stirling said.
Stirling particularly praised Andrew Balbirnie, who was awarded the Player of the Match for his impressive knock of 77 runs off 55 balls.
“Brilliant knock from Balbirnie, he got through the powerplay and picked up the pace later. It was a fantastic knock. We have had great games here especially against Pakistan. Absolutely delighted to get over the line,” he further added.
It is worth noting that Ireland defeated Pakistan by five wickets, with notable performances from Andy Balbirnie and Harry Tector. The remaining matches in the series are scheduled for May 12th and May 14th.
