Pakistan’s left-hand opener Shan Masood became the target of an amusing exchange, involving toothpaste brand ‘Colgate’, between Australia opener David Warner and all-rounder Marnus Labuchagne on the fourth day of the first Test at the Gabba, Brisbane.

While fielding at short leg, Labuschagne was heard saying ‘Colgate’ on the stump-mic as Masood prepared to face off-spinner Nathan Lyon.

Warner, fielding at slip, was quick to inquire whether the all-rounder mentioned the toothpaste brand.

“What did you just say Marnus? Colgate? Did you say Colgate?” asked Warner.

After Warner got affirmation about Labuschage mentioning Colgate from one of his teammates, he went on to include Pakistan opener in the conversation.

“What are you implying? What, he’s [Masood] got bad breath does he?” he said.

After Lyon completed his over, former Austalia cricketer Adam Gilchrist, while on commentary, was amused with the banter on the field.

“I’ve never heard so many references to personal hygiene in my life,” said Gilchrist.

Earlier on day one of the Test, Australia skipper Tim Paine also welcomed Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan to the crease with a taunt related to former the Men in Green’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

In a video shared by Cricket Australia (CA) Twitter account, Paine can be heard trying to distract Rizwan by mentioning the batting abilities of Sarfaraz.

"Sarfaraz would have hit that for a four. Sweep shot, bang, four," said Paine.

The taunt didn’t seem to bother Rizwan as he continued to block off-spinner Nathan Lyon with ease. This propelled the Australia skipper to try something different as he complimented Rizwan’s scent shortly after the next ball.

“Smells nice though. He [Rizwan] smells very nice," he added.
