Pakistan's white-ball captain Babar Azam has revealed key decisions and strategies for the upcoming England series and T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to take place in the USA and West Indies next month.

During the pre-series press conference, Babar revealed that the Pakistan team has decided to change their mindset after losing the first T20 against Ireland. He also noted that while fans expect them to hit fours and sixes on every delivery, they must play according to the situation.

“We changed our style of cricket and mindset after losing the 1st T20 against Ireland. People want us to hit only fours and sixes but we have to play according to the situation,” Babar said.

The 29-year-old also revealed a significant change in his batting position for the mega-event tournament.

“You’ll see our planning in this series but yes, we can make one or so changes according to the conditions or what is required. But, mostly I’ll be batting at one down," he said.

Babar Azam has also emphasized the significance of the series as a critical preparatory phase for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

"The England series is a golden opportunity for us to win and gain confidence for the T20 World Cup 2024," he remarked.

"I am confident that Pakistan will carry the winning momentum from the Ireland series into the England T20Is. Our 2-1 victory showcased the brilliance of our batters and bowlers, while also providing us with learnings as we aim to work on our areas of improvement," he added.

The right-hand batter also confirmed that fast bowler Haris Rauf has been cleared by the medical panel to participate in the England series and the mega-event tournament in the USA and West Indies.

“We’ve received clearance for Haris Rauf. He’s available for this series. So, by the will of Almighty Allah, he will surely be seen in action in the series,” he concluded.

It is worth noting that the Men in Green will play their final series before the 2024 World Cup against England, with the opening match set to take place in Leeds on May 22.
