Australian cricketer Steve Smith, who is currently commentating during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and West Indies, predicts that India's Virat Kohli will be the top run-scorer in the tournament.

Kohli's impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, where he scored 741 runs in 15 matches, has made him a favorite to lead the batting charts.

"My top run-getter for this tournament will be Virat Kohli. He is coming off a terrific IPL and he is bringing in some great form and I think he will be the leading run-getter,” Smith said in a video shared by the ICC.

Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith also believes that either Kohli or England's Jos Buttler will top the run-scoring charts.

“I am going with a top-order batter. Virat Kohli or Jos Buttler,” Graeme said.

It is worth noting that the T20 World Cup features 55 games across nine different venues, including locations in the West Indies and the USA. India will face Ireland, and England will play against Scotland in their opening matches.
