Cricketer-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja has advised his fellow former cricketers, who have started their YouTube channels, to not bring down the image of Pakistan cricket through unnecessary mudslinging.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, the famous commentator emphasised the need to be careful with your words when sharing opinions on electronic and digital media.

"Mic is a very powerful medium. It takes just two seconds to pull someone's pants down so we need to be very careful. We need to be respectful and say things that are digestible," Raja said.

"I am saying all this because the Pakistan Cricket Board has filed cybercrime cases against one or two individuals. Some people have also crossed boundaries, because when you are frustrated, you vent. However, there are ways to do it," he added.

The 57-year-old believes former cricketers should be constructive in their criticism and not cross their boundaries.

"Many ex-cricketers have opened their YouTube channels. Please vent in a way so that it is not a personal attack against any individual, which forces them to take extreme steps like reporting the case to the FIA," he said. "Bread and butter of every former and current cricketer is dependent on cricket. Pakistan cricket has only gotten wrong headlines for the past month or so, which has brought down its image."

"You can criticise because there are faults in the system, but at least do it wisely," he added.

It must be noted that former legendary pacer Shoaib Akhtar was called for a hearing by the cybercrime unit of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on June 5 for spreading propaganda and false allegations against the PCB. The hearing was scheduled after the PCB’s legal cell approached the FIA with a complaint. The former pacer has been accused of making comments against the PCB’s system which creates a negative perception of the board both domestically and internationally.

The PCB had also filed a complaint over inappropriate social media posts targeting Chief Executive Wasim Khan. The complaint was filed against former governing board members Shakeel Shaikh, Noman Butt and Tariq Sarwar.
