Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 after fracturing her left-hand finger.

The Asian Cricket Council announced that she will not participate in the remainder of the tournament due to the injury to the fourth finger of her left hand. Tanuja Kanwar has been named as her replacement.

The 21-year-old Shreyanka played a crucial role in India's opening match against Pakistan, taking 2/14 in 3.2 overs and helping bowl out the opposition. She sustained the injury while attempting a catch but managed to finish the match.

Tanuja Kanwar, Shreyanka's replacement, is also a spinner and performed impressively in this year's Women's Premier League (WPL) for the Gujarat Giants. She took 10 wickets in eight matches with an economy rate of 7.13.

Earlier this year, Shreyanka had suffered a hairline fracture on the same hand during the WPL, causing her to miss some matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite the injury, she ended the season as the highest wicket-taker with 13 wickets and played a pivotal role in securing RCB's maiden WPL title with a four-wicket haul in the final.

Shreyanka hopes to recover in time for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which starts in October in Bangladesh.

India secured a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Pakistan, chasing 109 runs in 14.1 overs. Their next match in the Women's Asia Cup is against the UAE on Sunday, 21 June, at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
