This 'light bulb' period might surge Pakistan cricket forward: Haysman

Going into the tournament hardly anyone expected Pakistan to bow out of the competition as favourites to lift the trophy. This resurgence of the team is down to the unity and the bond that has developed amongst the players, management, and staff members, according to Pakistan captain Babar Azam. 

Speaking to his team after the heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the semifinals, Babar Azam emphasized how this team has become a family first and foremost.

"We will not point fingers at each other, we will not do the blame game. We will accept responsibility because we lost as a team. As a captain, I will back everyone because all of you have responded whenever I needed you. We will not let this defeat crush the family spirit of ours because it is very tough to create this kind of unity," said Babar Azam.

This resurgence has not gone unnoticed; international cricket commentator, Mike Haysman, who spent an ample amount of time working alongside these players during the National T20 Cup, said that Pakistan will be a force to reckon with in the future to come.

"Over the past weeks we have seen consistency and structure from Pakistan and that is a big stride forward. If this becomes a habit, coupled with the unique uninhibited talent, Pakistan will be a massive force. This could be the 'light bulb' period that surges Pakistan cricket forward," wrote Haysman on Twitter.

Following the defeat against Australia, the chairman of PCB Ramiz Raja and Prime Minister Imran Khan were the first ones to help the Pakistan cricket team back on their feet by commending their efforts throughout the tournament.

The national team will need to dust themselves off as they have to prepare for a journey later on Friday for Bangladesh from Dubai. The team will play a three-match T20I series followed by two Tests.
