Todd Greenberg has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cricket Australia, taking over from Nick Hockley when he steps down at the end of this summer. Greenberg, who is currently the CEO of the Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) and a former CEO of the National Rugby League (NRL), had long been the leading candidate for the role.

Greenberg brings a wealth of experience to the position. He has strong relationships with players, having worked closely with them in his current role at the ACA. Additionally, he has a background in first-grade cricket in New South Wales, giving him valuable insight into the sport. His previous leadership roles in the NRL and as General Manager of Stadium Australia have provided him with extensive experience in managing key areas like broadcast partners, sponsors, stadia, and live events.

As CEO of the ACA, Greenberg played an essential role in negotiating the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the ACA and Cricket Australia. He also toured Pakistan in 2022 with Hockley when Australia returned to play international cricket in the country for the first time since 1998.

Cricket Australia Chairman Mike Baird expressed his excitement about Greenberg’s appointment. “I’m delighted Todd Greenberg will join Cricket Australia as Chief Executive Officer,” Baird said. “Todd will bring enormous experience to the role from his time leading the National Rugby League and his current position as CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, as well as his time in club and stadium management."

Baird also praised Greenberg's success in driving commercial growth and innovation, noting his key role in bringing the State of Origin to Melbourne and launching the NRL Women's (NRLW) competition. "We are entering a period of great opportunity, and the recruitment panel and CA Board were enormously impressed by Todd’s passion for cricket and his vision to build on the achievements of the past few years and continue the game’s growth."

He also took a moment to thank Nick Hockley for his contributions, saying, “I would like to thank Nick Hockley who will leave the game in a position of great strength at the end of the season with important foundations including our broadcast rights deal, MOU and seven-year content strategy in place."

Greenberg expressed his excitement at taking on the new challenge. “I am grateful to be given the opportunity to take on this enormously important role in Australian sport and to further my involvement with a game I’ve loved since childhood,” Greenberg said.

He acknowledged the rapid growth of cricket around the world, which presents both opportunities and challenges. “This is an extremely exciting time for cricket with the rapid growth of the game across the globe creating fantastic opportunities, while also presenting some challenges to ensure Australian cricket retains its position at the very peak of the game,” Greenberg said.

He continued, “Thanks to the work of the current administration, the game has strong fundamentals in place. I want to ensure we build on this momentum so Australian cricket continues to thrive – from local parks to the nation’s biggest stadiums."

Greenberg concluded by thanking everyone at the Australian Cricketers' Association for their positive relationships, adding, "I look forward to continuing and enriching these relationships for the betterment of cricket."
