Tom Moody, the Director of Cricket for the Desert Vipers in the UAE's DP World ILT20, spoke highly of the Pakistani players in his squad during an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan. Moody, who previously coached the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, emphasized the value of having talented cricketers like Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan, and Muhammad Amir in the team.

When asked about Shaheen Afridi, Moody confirmed that the star pacer would not be joining the Vipers this year. However, he shifted focus to Fakhar Zaman, acknowledging the left-handed opener’s recent statement about using the ILT20 as preparation for the Champions Trophy.

"At the end of the day, as long as he's delivering for the Desert Vipers, that’s a real bonus for us," Moody remarked. "We know he's an exciting player and what he can bring to the table. That’s why we embraced the opportunity to have him as part of our squad. There’s no question about his capabilities and the impact he can have as a player. We welcome him wholeheartedly," he added.

Moody further commented on Fakhar's fitness, saying, "He looks great in the net sessions. He’s fitted in perfectly and has trained really well. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table."

Discussing Azam Khan, Moody highlighted the wicketkeeper-batter’s explosive batting abilities.
"We all know what he’s capable of doing," Moody said. "He’s one of those rare players who, from ball one, can hit the ball out of the ground. Having players like that in this format of the game is a real bonus. I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to having a really impactful season for us," he further added.

Moody also expressed his excitement about retaining Muhammad Amir, one of Pakistan’s premier fast bowlers. "Amir is an outstanding bowler," he stated. "He was with us last year, and we know what he’s capable of. I’ve worked with Amir in other tournaments, and he’s a real asset. There’s no question of his quality and class as a quick bowler. It’s exciting to have him with us again," he further added.

With experienced players like Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan, and Muhammad Amir in the Desert Vipers squad, Moody is optimistic about their contributions to the team's success in the upcoming ILT20 season.
