Former Australia cricketer Tom Moody has revealed his predictions for the semi-finalists of the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies.
Speaking with Star Sports, Moody expressed confidence in Australia's chances, citing their unparalleled track record in ICC events. He also highlighted India as a strong contender due to their depth. South Africa was Moody's third choice, praised for their powerful middle-order batting. Lastly, he picked England, two-time winners of the tournament, as his fourth semi-finalist.
“My first pick would be Australia because their record in ICC events is second to none. The second pick would be India as they are a very good side with a lot of depth. They are strong in spin department and have dynamic batters. Plus, they have a guy called Jasprit Bumrah.,” Moody said.
“My third choice would be South Africa, who boasts a very strong batting-order, particularly power-hitters in their middle-order. My final choice would be England, who have won this tournament before,” he added.
The tournament kicks off on June 1, with the USA, one of the hosts, playing against Canada.
Teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two from each group progressing to the Super Eight stage. The Super Eight will then be divided into two groups, and the leading two teams from each will advance to the semi-finals.
