Babar Azam emphasized the pivotal role of the toss in the upcoming high-stakes encounter against India in Ahmedabad during the ICC World Cup 2023.

Addressing the media in a pre-match press conference, the Pakistan captain acknowledged the significant impact the toss has had on matches played thus far.

“Considering all the matches that have taken place so far, toss has been vital. Under the lights, the pitch behaves really well. There was dew as well last night. We will also ask the umpires about whether they will spray the outfield for dew,” Babar said while speaking in pre-match press conference.

In response to a question about the pressure associated with captaining against India, Babar Azam expressed a composed perspective. He asserted that his captaincy is not contingent on a single match outcome.

“I don’t think future of captaincy depends on winning or losing against India. I have not been given captaincy just for this match,” he said.

Furthermore, Babar Azam candidly addressed his subpar ODI record against India.

“I was not able to perform in accordance with expectations, so far, in the World Cup but I’m hopeful that there will be improvement in my performance. As for my record against India, we only face each other during World Cups so there is a lot of gap between matches. I mostly got out because of my mistakes and not because of some specific bowler,” he said.
