The Men in Green won by 31 runs on Friday
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has heaped praise on the Men in Green after their win over England in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) of the series on Friday.
Liam Livingstone smashed the fastest Twenty20 century by an England cricketer in just 42 balls but it was in vain as the home side lost a white ball match for the first time this summer, falling short by 31 runs in Trent Bridge.
Morgan won the toss and chose to bowl first but the move backfired as Pakistan capitalised on the short boundaries, smashing 20 fours and 12 sixes to post 232-6 — their highest total in T20 internationals. In reply, England were bowled out for 201.
Former Pakistan captain, Afridi, was delighted to see the Babar Azam-led unit play in true T20 style during the victory.
“It was a delight to see Pakistan batsmen playing in true T20 style, great combined effort. Bowling and fielding did great under real pressure. Top work Shaheen, Hasnain, Shadab,” tweeted Afridi.
