Two more members of Pakistan squad confirmed with Covid-19 in New Zealand

Two more members of the Pakistan squad have tested positive for Covid-19 in New Zealand, which means that now 10 of the 53-man squad have been confirmed with the illness.

The latest cases are, both, historical and are currently in managed isolation.

“Two members of the Pakistan men’s cricket team we reported yesterday as under investigation tested positive at day 6 routine testing. These people are confirmed as having historical infections, and will be counted in our total as they have not been counted overseas,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

“The team is scheduled to have its routine day 9 tests today. Decisions around exemptions from managed isolation requirements which would allow the team to train are still under consideration,” the statement added.

The touring party, led by skipper Babar Azam, arrived in Christchurch on November 24 for two weeks of quarantine which is mandatory for all overseas arrivals in New Zealand.

All tested negative before leaving Lahore for the five-match tour, which is scheduled to begin with a Twenty20 international in Auckland on December 18.
