The Guyana Amazon Warriors have announced the retention of Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan and opener Saim Ayub for the upcoming 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season.

Both players were instrumental in the Warriors' historic title win last year and are expected to play key roles in the team's campaign this year.

Joining Khan and Ayub are two more overseas stars, Dwaine Pretorius and Imran Tahir of South Africa. Additionally, Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who was part of the Warriors' squad in 2022, has also been retained.

The Warriors, with three more spots to fill, will finalize their squad at the CPL draft in July.

The current Guyana Amazon Warriors squad includes Imran Tahir, Shimron Hetmyer, Saim Ayub, Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd, Azam Khan, Gudakesh Motie, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Kevin Sinclair, Dwaine Pretorius, Keemo Paul, Shamar Joseph, Kevlon Anderson, and Junior Sinclair.

In other CPL news, three Pakistani players – Mohammad Amir, Fakhar Zaman, and Imad Wasim – have been signed by the new franchise Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. These players represent Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the USA and West Indies.

The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons replaced the Jamaica Tallawahs, which the owner disbanded due to unsustainable operations.
