Both cricketers calls for equal opportunity for all active players in the domestic circuit
Pakistan cricketers, Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal, are eagerly waiting for a chance to prove themselves once again as the home series against the New Zealand is around the corner.
Ahmed, who boasts an impressive track record, stated that the selection should be based on top-notch performance and nothing else.

"Pakistan cricket team's race is for everyone. Whoever performs well, will get a chance to play. As simple as that," said Ahmed.
"It depends on the performance of every single cricketer. I am all in for giving chances to youngsters. I am really impressed by Saim Ayub and I want him to play for Pakistan. But, sometimes you need experienced players to groom these youngsters," he added.
The 31-year-old declared his availability for all formats, and is ready to play his heart out. He also calls for equal opportunity for all active players in the domestic circuit, including himself.
"I don't want special treatment. I just want honest treatment with me like other players," said Ahmed.
The 34-year-old Umar, who last played T20I match against Sri Lanka way back in 2019, stated that his recent performances in domestic cricket is infront of everyone and it's upto the selection committee to pick him in the national side.
"I leave the decision of selection for the upcoming series against New Zealand to the PCB and the selection committee. My performances in domestic cricket and especially in PSL are out there for everyone to see, and if it's in God's will, I will be able to play for Pakistan," he said.
"I take cricket very seriously, be it club cricket, domestic cricket, or international cricket. As you can see, I don't miss a single club cricket game, and I always give my 100%. I will continue to perform like this till the end," he added.
When asked about his departure from cricket, Umar Akmal wisely stated that his decision will be based on his fitness level.
"As a cricketer, it's my responsibility to perform well, and I will continue to do so till I'm fit enough. If I ever feel that my fitness is not up to the mark, I will announce my retirement," he concluded.
